THE USEFUL DIFFERENCE
ReciMe is a useful candidate when your next recipe is often in a social post, screenshot or bookmarked page. Its value is bringing that scattered collection into recipes you can find, plan and shop from.
Compare with Mealime’s current free offering. Mealime closes on 21 October 2026, but its Pro recipes and features are now available to everyone and its notice says subscribers will receive no further subscription charges before closure. Its catalogue continues in free Meals Hub through Albertsons Companies apps and websites. Recipes, plans and lists can be used without a nearby store. Official transition notice.
Is collecting recipes your main problem?
Saved posts are easy to accumulate and surprisingly difficult to cook from. The ingredients may be in a caption, the quantities in a video and your own substitution in a message to a friend. If that describes your routine, a recipe organiser solves a different problem from a service that mainly suggests tonight’s dinner.
ReciMe offers iOS and Android apps, web access for saving and reading recipes, and a Chrome extension. Its Meal Plan is currently mobile-only: computer recipe access does not mean every planning feature works in the browser. Official platform overview; Meal Plan platform limit.
If Mealime reduced the number of choices you faced, decide whether a larger collection helps you choose or simply gives you more to browse. Start with an intentional shelf of recipes for next week rather than importing every saved post at once.
| Decision | Mealime / Meals Hub | ReciMe |
|---|---|---|
| Recipes you want to cook | Mealime’s catalogue continues in Meals Hub. | Collect individual recipes from websites, social posts, images and text. |
| Free routine | Mealime Pro is open before closure; Meals Hub is free. | Five imports per week, with cookbooks, meal plans and grocery lists. |
| Your main preparation | Retain personal favourites and notes; some Meals Hub settings must be established there. | Review each imported recipe and organise a useful set of cookbooks. |
| Best reason to choose | You mainly want continued access to familiar Mealime dishes. | Your recipes are scattered across multiple creators and formats. |
Feature sources: Mealime’s notice, ReciMe Free and import rules. The final row is our assessment of those differences, not a measured performance result.
The free version is a useful small test
| Your priority | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Saving a few recipes | The free plan currently permits five imports per week. |
| Planning and groceries | Meal plans, cookbooks and smart grocery lists are included in its free core features. |
| A large import session | Unlimited imports require ReciMe Plus. |
| Extra recipe tools | The help centre identifies nutrition calculation, conversion, export/print and guided cooking as premium features. |
| Mealime compatibility | A broad recipe importer is not proof of a complete Mealime transfer. Verify one link and its saved result. |
These distinctions come from ReciMe’s free-plan help page. Check them in your account because included features and limits can change.
Use your five imports thoughtfully
ReciMe documents website, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest imports, plus images and pasted text. Those categories describe supported routes, not a guarantee that every post contains a complete recipe. Official import categories.
Source details matter. With Pinterest, ReciMe looks for the recipe website linked by the Pin; the documented route is Share → More apps → ReciMe. For Facebook, the guide lists reels and public pages/groups, says written captions work best, and describes trying audio or an original website when needed. Pinterest guide; Facebook guide.
For a video recipe, compare the saved method with what is demonstrated. An ingredient can appear on screen without a precise amount, while a caption can refer to a sauce made elsewhere. Missing information needs a check against the creator’s original recipe, not a guessed quantity that looks authoritative.
Free imports reset every seven days from account creation, not each Monday. Only saving the recipe consumes an import; failed attempts or backing out before saving do not. For an account created on Wednesday, the next allocation arrives Wednesday. A website recipe and a screenshot recipe use the same allowance. Weekly import rules, updated 6 May 2026.
For a written recipe photographed from paper, ReciMe documents + → Import from Camera, then choosing or taking a photo, reviewing the text and tapping Import. Put each ingredient and instruction on its own line before finishing. This is useful when the recipe is actually written out; a photo of a finished dish cannot supply its missing method. Official camera-import guide.
Compare the subscription with your collecting pace
ReciMe’s pricing help, updated 9 August 2026, gives a US example of $39.99 per year. It says prices depend on the plan and purchase region. Open the app and tap Subscribe to see the current amount in your local currency. Use that offer to compare billing periods; the US example is not a universal local price.
The free-plan documentation advertises a seven-day Plus trial and says recipes imported during that trial remain saved if you return to Free. That does not mean every premium tool remains available after the trial. Source: free access and trial FAQ.
Judge the upgrade by your normal pace. Someone who saves two recipes a week has a different need from someone digitising a large personal cookbook. Also consider whether printing or measurement conversion is essential to the way you cook; those may influence the choice even when your import count is small.
From imported recipe to cookbook, plan and groceries
- Review the imported recipe. Compare servings, fractions, ingredient groups and all instructions with the original before saving. Keep the source link for corrections.
- Give it a useful home. In Cookbooks, switch to the Cookbooks view, choose New Cookbook, add a title and create it. On a recipe page, tap Cookbooks to select the folders it belongs to. Create a cookbook; assign a recipe.
- Choose when to cook it. In My Meal Plan, select a day and meal slot, then choose the recipe from a cookbook. You can drag a meal within the same week; moving it to another week currently requires removing and adding it again. Meal Plan instructions.
- Review the generated list. Open Groceries. ReciMe says the list updates when planned meals are added or removed. Sort by recipe to check which dish needs an ingredient, deselect pantry stock and add unrelated items manually. If a quantity or unit is not recognised, the item remains as written in the recipe. Groceries guide, updated 21 August 2026.
A practical first cookbook might be “Worknight dinners”. If an imported pasta recipe lists olive oil without an amount, saving and scheduling it still leaves that amount unresolved. Consult the original recipe before shopping or cooking; an organised list cannot repair missing source information.
Online ordering is a further step: Groceries → Order Online, review selected ingredients, then choose an available grocery partner. ReciMe redirects to the partner’s site or app to finish checkout. Review products, pack sizes and the final total there. Official checkout instructions.
Keep a backup before choosing your next app
The free MealPot browser backup downloads readable TXT or JSON from accessible recipe information. It does not transfer Mealime’s private favourites or plans, and its files are not a promised ReciMe import format. Keep the original links alongside the files.
If you compare MealPot too, its documented app route is Recipes → + → Import Recipe → review → save to My Recipes, and recipe import requires Pro. That is separate from the free browser download; see the MealPot comparison for the supported scope.
Frequently asked questions
How many recipes can I import free in ReciMe?
The current help centre says five imports every seven days from your account’s creation date. It says imports count when saved, including recipes brought in from websites, social media, images and pasted text.
Can I plan meals on the ReciMe website?
The official Meal Plan guide currently limits planning to iOS and Android. Web recipe access is available, but browser planning is described as future work. Platform guidance.
Will a Mealime JSON backup upload to ReciMe?
This guide has not verified that file format as a ReciMe import route. Retain the original recipe link and test the supported route with one dish; do not assume a whole account or favourites collection transfers.
Keep the dinners worth keeping.
Save one favourite, check the copy and plan a small first week.
