This policy covers the MealPot app for iPhone and Android, run by Vanette’s Place Global LLC (“MealPot”, “we”, “us”). The MealPot website has its own website privacy policy.
What stays on your phone
You don’t need an account to use MealPot. Your food preferences, allergies, weekly plans, shopping lists, saved recipes and meal log are stored on your phone.
What the app sends to our servers
The app creates a random ID for your installation. It is not your name or email. Some features need our servers, and when you use them the app sends what that feature needs:
- Reminders and notifications: the reminder times you choose and a notification token, so we can send meal reminders and order updates.
- Recipe import: the links, text or photos you choose to import, so we can read the recipe.
- Favourite meals: the meals you type when you tell us what you like to eat, with your household size, diet, allergies and foods you avoid, so we can find a recipe for each one.
- What you think of dishes: the dishes you save, turn down, swap, choose or cook, kept with your saved recipes. Our servers add these up across everyone, without names, to learn which dishes people enjoy, and your own plans use them to fit your taste.
- Eat Out: the names and addresses of restaurants near you and your town, so we can read their menus. To pick dishes for you, the dishes found are sent with your diet, allergies, foods you avoid and the dishes you usually order. Your postcode and location stay on your phone.
- The assistant: what you type or tap when you tell MealPot what to change, with your week’s meals and your plan settings, so it can change your plan.
- Feedback: anything you write and send to us.
- Delivery and invitations: described below.
Our servers run on Supabase. The app also uses Apple’s App Attest to check that requests come from the real app.
AI features
Your weekly plan and allergy and diet filtering come from MealPot’s reviewed recipe catalogue. They do not use generative AI to decide whether a recipe is safe for you.
When you use Fridge Chef, Calorie Snap, import a recipe, tell us your favourite meals or use Eat Out, the photo, link, text or details you choose are sent through our servers to our AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic) to produce the result. For favourite meals and Eat Out we also search the web, through Tavily, for the recipe or the restaurant’s menu; only the meal, or the restaurant’s name, town and dish, is searched. It is used only to answer that request. It is not used to train AI models or to build a profile of you.
When you tell MealPot what to change in the chat, your messages are sent through our servers to one of those AI providers, together with your week’s meals and your plan settings, including any dietary needs and allergies you have set, so it can change your plan the way you asked. The changes themselves are made by the app, with the same allergy and diet checks as everywhere else. We keep these conversations on our servers so our team can learn what people want from their meals, and the app remembers the likes and dislikes you mention so your next plans fit you better. They are not used to train AI models and are not sent to analytics or ad partners. Deleting your app data deletes them.
Grocery delivery
If you order groceries with MealPot Concierge, where it is available, we collect what is needed to shop and deliver your order:
- your name, phone number, delivery address and ZIP code
- your grocery list, shopping preferences and delivery time
- messages between you and your concierge, and your order history and refunds
Our concierge team and the shopper who fills your order see these details. Your address and phone number are shown to them only after you approve payment. Payments are made with Apple Pay and processed by Stripe. We never receive your full card number.
To check whether we deliver to you, the app can use your location once to fill in your postcode. Your exact location is not stored or shared.
Invitations and rewards
If you invite friends, we keep your invite code, who used it and whether a reward is due. If you earn a reward, we ask for an email address to send it to. Gift cards are issued by Tremendous, which collects your delivery details on its own page.
Subscriptions
MealPot Pro is sold through the App Store (or Google Play on Android). We use RevenueCat to check your subscription. RevenueCat receives your random app ID and your subscription status, not your name or card details. To measure our ads, RevenueCat also tells our ad measurement partners (below) when you start a trial or subscribe.
Permissions
- Camera and photos: used only when you take or choose a photo for Fridge Chef, Calorie Snap or recipe import.
- Apple Health: if you turn it on, MealPot writes the meals you log (calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat) to Health. It never reads from Health.
- Location: only if you allow it, to fill in your postcode for delivery or Eat Out. Your exact location is not stored or shared.
- Notifications: used for reminders and order updates you turn on.
Analytics and advertising
We use PostHog to see how the app is used, for example which features people open, so we can improve it. This is tied to your random app ID, not your name or email. We don’t send health details or allergies to analytics. Feedback you send is stored with us and in PostHog so our team can read it.
We use AppsFlyer and the Meta SDK to measure our ads, for example how many people install MealPot after seeing an ad and how many then start a trial or subscribe. AppsFlyer passes these results to the ad platforms we advertise on, such as Meta, TikTok, Google, OpenAI (ChatGPT ads) and Apple Search Ads. If you allow tracking when Apple asks, this can include your device’s advertising identifier. If you say no, it isn’t used. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Who we share with
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the services that run MealPot for us, each for its own job: Supabase (servers), OpenAI and Anthropic (AI features), Tavily (web search for favourite meals and Eat Out), RevenueCat and Apple or Google (subscriptions), Stripe (payments), Tremendous (rewards), PostHog (analytics), AppsFlyer and Meta (ad measurement), and the ad platforms we advertise on, such as TikTok, Google, OpenAI and Apple (ad results). Delivery orders are also shared with the concierge team and shopper who fill them. We may share information if the law requires it.
Deleting your data
To delete what our servers hold, open Profile → Delete App Data. If you have an open order or one delivered in the last 30 days, we finish it first so refunds still work, then delete. We keep payment records as long as the law requires. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone.
Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your Apple Account (or Google Play) settings.
Children
MealPot is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
