What you take with you.
A file you can open offline.
The readable download is a plain text file. Once it is saved on your device, you can read it without this website or an internet connection. Creating the preview needs a connection.
- TXT: the title, source link and servings when found, ingredient lines, numbered instructions and any review notes.
- JSON: the same recipe content in a structured file, with additional fields such as timings when found. Useful for keeping a data copy; compatibility with another app is not guaranteed.
Neither download packages recipe photos for offline viewing. Keep the original link as well as your file.

Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Tenders with Green Beans & Honey Mustard Dip is a useful example of why the review matters. Its public recipe data, checked on 12 September 2026, contained:
The title and steps are present, but some ingredient lines, including garlic powder, have no amount. The backup keeps those lines and flags them; it does not invent quantities. A recipe can be included in the download and still need your attention.

Questions before you start?
Is the backup really free?
Yes. Previewing recipes and downloading TXT or JSON on this page is free and needs no account. Saving a recipe through MealPot’s iPhone app importer is a separate Pro feature.
Can this save my entire Mealime account?
No. It cannot sign in, fetch a private favourites collection or transfer your meal plans and account settings. Submit public recipe links or content you have already saved.
What should I do about a missing amount or cooking step?
Compare the preview with your original recipe. An ingredient such as salt may intentionally have no numeric amount, but other omissions can matter. If you can recover the missing information, paste the complete recipe in the text tab and preview again. A recipe missing its title, ingredient list or cooking steps is excluded from the download.
Does the downloaded file import directly into MealPot?
No. This website creates a backup. MealPot accepts individual recipe links through its Pro recipe importer. Follow the import walkthrough to review and save a recipe in the app.
Why did my PDF not work?
The reader needs extractable text. Image-only scans and some PDF encodings are not supported. Try the public recipe URL or paste its text instead.
Is there an export button inside Mealime?
No. Mealime never shipped an export feature, which is why this backup works from public recipe links, pasted text and saved files instead.
Where should I keep the backed-up recipes?
Somewhere readable that you will open again: a notes app, a cloud-drive folder, or a recipe keeper such as Paprika, AnyList or MealPot on iPhone. Keep the source link with each recipe so you can compare details later.
Keep your favourites. Then plan what’s next.
