Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Lightly oil one half of a rimmed baking sheet.
- Prepare the produce by washing and drying all fresh ingredients.
- Split the plums around the pit, twist apart to remove the pits, and slice each half into 1/2-inch pieces; transfer to a medium bowl.
- Core and cut the apples into 1/4-inch wedges and add them to the bowl with the plums.
- Peel and cut the onion into 1/4-inch strips; add to the bowl with a drizzle of oil and a pinch of salt and pepper, then toss to coat.
- Spread the fruit and onion mixture on the oiled half of the baking sheet and set aside while you prepare the meat.
- Strip basil leaves from the stems, roll and slice into ribbons; divide the ribbons between the meat mixture bowl and a separate small bowl for later.
- In the medium bowl with basil, add the ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, and spices; mix until just combined.
- Shape the turkey mixture into meatballs using a tablespoon and arrange them on the oiled half of the baking sheet; bake until cooked through and the fruit is tender, about 15–18 minutes, turning the meatballs and tossing the fruit halfway through.
- While the meat bakes, whisk yogurt, mayo, water, and the remaining spices in the small bowl to make the sauce.
- To serve, spoon a layer of the basil yogurt on plates, top with roasted fruit, and crown with meatballs.
Two tips
- Make-ahead option: refrigerate the meat mixture for up to 1 day before shaping into meatballs.
- Serving idea: drizzle any remaining yogurt sauce over leftovers or dip with extra fruit on the side; if plums aren’t available, use an extra apple.
