Ingredients
- 1 cupfrozen cherries
- ⅔ cupplain Greek yogurt
From the pantry: honey, nutmeg, ground, oats, quick cooking, salt, water
Cookware
chef's knife · colander · cutting board · measuring cups · measuring spoons · mixing bowls · small saucepan · stirring spoon
Directions
- 1. In a small saucepan, combine water and salt. Bring to a full boil over high heat.
- 2. Stir in the oats, honey, and ground nutmeg. Cover, reduce to a gentle simmer, and cook 3–5 minutes until the oats reach your desired thickness.
- 3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the plain Greek yogurt and a little honey until smooth.
- 4. Rinse the frozen cherries in a colander under hot tap water to thaw, then roughly chop.
- 5. When the oats are ready, fold in the chopped cherries and cook 1–2 minutes more to heat through.
- 6. Remove the pan from heat and portion the oatmeal into two bowls.
- 7. Spoon the honey yogurt over each serving, dividing it evenly.
- 8. Serve warm and enjoy the contrast between creamy oats, warm fruit, and tangy yogurt.
Two tips
- Prep the cherries in advance if you like, so they’re ready to fold in quickly.
- Swap the yogurt topping by using a dollop of extra oats with a drizzle of honey if you prefer a lighter finish.
