- ½ small bunchfresh dill
- 2 fl ozheavy whipping cream
- 5 ozmacaroni (elbow) pasta
- ¾ lbsea scallops
- 1shallot

From the pantry: black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, salt
Cookware
aluminum foil · chef's knife · colander · cutting board · measuring cups · measuring spoons · medium saucepan · mixing bowls · nonstick skillet · stirring spoon · tongs
Directions
- Boil pasta in salted water until just tender, then drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, slice zucchini into half-moon pieces after washing and drying; mince the shallot.
- Warm a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil, then cook zucchini with a pinch of salt until it begins to soften, about 4 minutes.
- Add the minced shallot to the skillet and cook until soft, stirring often, about 1 minute more.
- Pour in broth and cream; simmer with the vegetables until the sauce thickens slightly, then transfer zucchini and sauce to a bowl and cover to keep warm.
- Wipe the skillet and heat it again over medium. Pat scallops dry, oil lightly, and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Sear the scallops in a single layer until deeply browned and opaque through, about 1½–2 minutes per side, then move to a plate.
- Wash and finely chop dill leaves. Return the drained pasta to the pot, add dill, the zucchini sauce, and toss to combine; heat through briefly.
Two tips
- Prep the dill in advance by washing, drying, and snipping the leaves so they’re ready to add to the hot pasta.
- If you have leftovers, toss them with a little extra cream to reheat smoothly, or serve the scallops on top for reheated pasta with a fresh sear.
