Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. In a small baking dish, stir together the tomato sauce and hot sauce; set the dish aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the turkey, bread crumbs, olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until just combined.
  4. With a scant ¼-cup measure, shape the turkey mixture into rounded meatballs and transfer them to the sauce; turn to coat.
  5. Bake in the oven until the meatballs are cooked through and nicely browned, about 15–18 minutes, stirring once during cooking.
  6. While the meatballs bake, trim and slice half of the green onions; reserve the other half for serving.
  7. Wash and slice celery; add it to the bowl with the green onions along with the cabbage, dressing, and almonds to make the slaw.
  8. To serve, spoon the meatballs and sauce onto plates and top with the reserved green onions, accompanied by the blue cheese slaw.

Two tips

  • Prep the slaw ingredients ahead of time and refrigerate; assemble just before serving if possible.
  • Swap in celery for added crunch or serve the meatballs over a bed of greens to vary the plate, using only the listed ingredients and common pantry items.
