AT A GLANCE
Officially: Meals Hub. Mealime’s closing notice sends users to Meals Hub, free inside the Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco and sister store apps, with every Mealime recipe carried over. It is run by the same team.
In practice: it depends on your store. Meals Hub is built around shopping at Albertsons Companies stores. If that is not your supermarket, the honest replacement is a store-agnostic planner.
The official replacement: Meals Hub
Mealime says every Mealime recipe, including former Pro recipes, continues in Meals Hub, and that the planner works even without a nearby store. It is free. What does not carry over: your account, favourites, notes, dietary settings and plans — Mealime says personal data is deleted at shutdown.
What Meals Hub drops versus Mealime: servings fixed at 2, 4 or 6 with no free scaling, no planning calendar, and grocery delivery tied to Albertsons-owned stores. Our Meals Hub review and Meals Hub comparison have the details.
When the official replacement is not your replacement
Meals Hub fits if you already shop at an Albertsons Companies banner and want deals plus a one-tap cart. It does not fit if you cook for 3 or 5, plan by calendar, shop at Walmart, Costco or a local market, or live outside the US.
The r/mealime threads asking for replacements centre on exactly that: a planner that does not care where you shop. Our guide for users outside the US covers the regional side.
The real options, by what you used Mealime for
The week planned for you: MealPot (iPhone and iPad, free to download; full planning requires Pro) plans dinners around your preferences and household size and writes one aisle-sorted grocery list. All 1,676 Mealime dinners are listed here with their grocery lists.
Your own recipe collection: Paprika 3 lets you keep local recipe copies and export them; its optional cloud sync backs up your collection. Plan to Eat offers a calendar and list for your own saved recipes.
Stay free: Samsung Food offers free recipe saving and basic planning; check its current tier limits before switching.
Whatever you pick, keep the recipes first
Mealime never built an export. Save a readable copy of your favourites while the app still opens: the free backup tool accepts a recipe share link, or find the dish already rebuilt in our recipe pages. Then the choice of planner is a preference, not an emergency.
Frequently asked questions
What is Mealime being replaced with?
Meals Hub, a free meal planner inside Albertsons Companies store apps and websites. Mealime says every recipe moves over; personal data does not.
Is Meals Hub the same as Mealime?
No. It has the same catalogue and team, but it is a section of grocery-store apps: fixed serving sizes, no calendar, and carts aimed at Albertsons-owned stores.
What replaces Mealime if I do not shop at Albertsons stores?
A store-agnostic planner. MealPot if you want the week and list generated on iPhone; Paprika or Plan to Eat if you want to bring your own recipes.
Do my Mealime favourites move automatically?
No. Mealime says personal data is deleted at shutdown. Settings are re-entered in whatever app you choose; save your favourite recipes first with our backup tool.
