AT A GLANCE

Meals Hub is a US retailer’s tool. Mealime’s notice lists Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Shaw’s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Pavilions, Star Market, United Supermarkets, Haggen and Carrs, all US chains. It says Meals Hub works without a nearby store, but does not say the apps are offered in other countries’ app stores.

You need a planner that supports your country. That means metric units, your local stores in the shopping list, and an app you can actually download.

First, check whether you can even install it

Search your country’s App Store or Google Play for “Safeway” or “Albertsons”. If the listing is not available in your region, Meals Hub is not an option without switching store accounts, which also affects your other purchases. If it is available, expect prices, aisles and delivery to be built around US stores.

The web route is the alternative. Mealime links to an official store selector where you pick a US banner and continue to the recipes in a browser. It gives you the catalogue, but the shopping half is US-only.

What to keep from Mealime wherever you live

  1. Your repeat dinners. Copy the recipe link from Mealime’s share menu into our free backup tool, or find the dish in our rebuilt recipe pages, which carry metric and US quantities for 2, 4 and 6 servings.
  2. Your settings. Metric units, servings and dietary filters need re-entering in whatever comes next. Write them down.
  3. Your plan and list. A screenshot of this week keeps you cooking through the changeover.

Planners that work in your country

MealPot for iPhone and iPad supports the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, according to its App Store listing. Servings scale to your household, the grocery list is written in your units, and recipe import from a Mealime link is part of Pro. Android is not available.

Plan to Eat is a web and mobile planner that works anywhere with a browser, prices in US dollars at plantoeat.com, and has a calendar view Mealime never had. Paprika is a one-time purchase per platform that stores recipes on your own device, with no regional restriction. Samsung Food is free worldwide, though its store integrations are US-centred.

Whichever you choose, test it with a real week before 21 October: import or re-enter five dinners, build the list, and shop from it once.

A note on units and pack sizes

Mealime showed Canadian and UK users metric quantities. Many US planners do not convert, so “1 (15 oz) can” arrives as a puzzle. Our recipe pages keep both the metric and US quantities from the original recipe. Our pack-size guide covers rounding a list to what your shop actually sells.

Frequently asked questions

Does Meals Hub work outside the United States?

Mealime says Meals Hub works without a nearby Albertsons store, but it lives in US store apps and websites. Whether you can install the app depends on your country’s app store. Shopping features are built around US stores either way.

Is MealPot available in my country?

The App Store listing names the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. It is iPhone and iPad only.

Will I lose metric quantities?

Not if you use our recipe pages or the backup tool, which keep both unit systems from the original recipe. Other planners vary; check before committing.

What about Mealime’s grocery delivery partners?

Mealime’s integrations with Kroger, Walmart, Amazon Fresh and Instacart were US-only and end with the app. See our grocery delivery guide.
