AT A GLANCE

Recent Reddit threads reveal specific needs, including recipe discovery and a combined grocery list. They are individual discussions, not a survey or a Reddit endorsement of any replacement.

Dated discussions and the needs behind them.

In a 4 September 2026 r/mealprep thread, u/OkJuice9821 describes choosing four to six Mealime dishes before grocery shopping. They want a replacement that supplies recipe choices and produces the list, without having to collect web recipes first. The matching r/cookingforbeginners post is by the same author with the same request. These are two conversations about one person’s need, not two independent user reports.

In a 9 January 2025 r/MealPrepSunday thread, a different poster wants suggested meals, a shopping list and a weekend preparation schedule. Their update says they tried Mealime and made a plan but still wanted guidance on advance chopping and measuring. That is a useful distinction: a calendar of dinners does not necessarily organise the work before dinner.

A 1 January 2024 r/povertyfinance discussion centres on quick meals and the generated list. In a reply, one person describes scheduling four app meals a week, leaving room for family recipes and changing plans. That is an individual routine worth considering, not proof of typical savings or a recommendation to fill every day.

What those posts can tell you.

The repeated concern across these examples is the work around cooking: finding dishes, turning choices into ingredients and leaving room for real schedules. The 2025 request adds a separate requirement for advance preparation. These examples help define a household’s checklist; they do not establish how common each preference is among all Mealime users.

There is also a concrete disagreement about fit. In the replacement discussion, a Paprika user explains how they collect recipes, then points out that this does not meet the original poster’s wish for an existing catalogue. A product can work well for the person recommending it while asking the next person to do work they hoped to avoid.

Check current answers against the official notice.

An older thread can receive much newer replies. A later comment in the January 2025 discussion says Mealime ends in September 2026. The official notice gives 21 October 2026. Use that date rather than the comment’s month.

Recognise recommendations from makers.

In the cookingforbeginners replies, a ReciPip recommendation explicitly comes from its developer, and another commenter identifies Zimmer as their own app. In the mealprep discussion, Dinnr’s maker describes their product. These are disclosed maker pitches, not independent user reviews. Their feature lists are not verified by appearing in the thread.

We make MealPot and publish this guide on our own site. That commercial context applies here too. None of these discussions establishes a Reddit endorsement of MealPot, and we have not ranked apps by comment frequency or votes.

This is a fit-based shortlist, not a Reddit ranking. For the September poster, catalogue access deserves priority over import breadth. For someone who already has favourite recipes elsewhere, the order can reverse. Our review framework separates these tasks.

Keep the recipes while you compare.

Do not make the perfect replacement a prerequisite for saving a favourite. Record the title, source link and personal notes now, then check one readable copy. This lets you evaluate products without relying entirely on your current account.

The free MealPot website backup does not require an account and does not automatically import the file into our app. Start with the switch checklist, then use the alternatives guide to compare the underlying workflows. Keep your own observations next to each recommendation so the final decision reflects your household.

Common questions

Does Reddit recommend MealPot as the best Mealime alternative?

We do not claim a Reddit endorsement or community verdict. These are individual discussions, and MealPot publishes this page about its own market.

Are the two September replacement posts independent reports?

No. The linked r/mealprep and r/cookingforbeginners posts repeat the same request from the same author. Their replies differ, but the original need should not be counted twice.

Should I use a Reddit comment’s shutdown date?

Use Mealime’s official date: 21 October 2026. Older threads can contain newer replies, and those replies can still be wrong.
