Decide what you want to keep first.
Account deletion is a good time to distinguish personal records from recipes you can find elsewhere. Your favourite list says which dishes you selected; the recipe contains the instructions for one dish. Your plan says what you intended to cook this week. A recipe copy alone does not preserve the other two records.
Make a small inventory before beginning: favourite titles, usable recipe links, your own recipe notes, the current meal plan and the shopping list you still need. If someone else uses the same account, coordinate with them so they can retain their own information too. Our household guide explains that shared-account situation.
Use Mealime’s documented deletion controls.
- Open Mealime and go to Settings.
- Choose Contact Us.
- Select Delete your account.
Mealime’s help article was updated on 22 December 2023; follow any further instructions displayed in your version. It says account data including preferences, plans and favourites is erased, and returning requires a new account. It provides no restoration procedure. Treat the decision as permanent.

If you cannot use the app.
The same help article offers an email route: contact [email protected] with the subject “Delete my account” and identify the email address used for the account. Use that official contact route if the in-app option is unavailable. Keep a copy of your request and any response.
Describe the request clearly and avoid attaching a whole recipe archive or unrelated account records. If support needs more information, follow up through that conversation. The guide does not establish a guaranteed completion time, so distinguish sending a request from receiving confirmation that it was completed.
Check payments as a separate task.
Mealime’s current closing notice says Pro subscribers will incur no further subscription fees before the 21 October 2026 shutdown. Account deletion is not a required step to obtain that announced billing change.
Check the subscription status where you paid. On iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions and select Mealime. Apple says an absent cancellation button or a red expiration message indicates an already cancelled subscription. In Google Play, open Subscriptions using the purchasing Google account and select the subscription. Apple’s instructions; Google Play’s instructions.
If a charge needs investigation, retain its date, amount, receipt and billing provider. Use the cancellation guide to find the appropriate route. A deletion request does not document the outcome of a refund enquiry.
What about deletion at the shutdown?
The official closing notice says Mealime will close on 21 October 2026 and all personal data will be deleted at shutdown. It also says users can request deletion beforehand. This is Mealime’s stated plan, not confirmation that your individual account has already been deleted.
The same notice says the recipe catalogue continues in Meals Hub. That does not establish a transfer of your private account: some preferences and settings must be set up there. Make the backup useful outside the account.
Before requesting deletion, build a small folder you can open without relying on Mealime. Use this checklist to decide whether it contains enough to cook and plan again.

For example, saving “Tuesday: chickpea curry” preserves a plan entry. To cook it next week you still need servings, ingredient amounts and the method; to reproduce your version you also need your notes. Keep the plan and recipe together, then store a second copy somewhere accessible if you replace your phone.
MealPot’s free website backup tool requires no Mealime sign-in and no MealPot account. It downloads TXT or JSON from accessible recipe information, not private favourites, plans or notes. Review missing quantities before downloading. These files are a separate browser backup, not an automatic import into the MealPot app. Continue with the switch checklist once the copies are checked.
Common questions
Is deleting the app enough to request account deletion?
Use the account-deletion route above. A device’s uninstall control is not the request described by Mealime. Apple and Google also say app removal does not cancel subscriptions.
Can I recover the account after deletion?
Mealime says returning requires a new account. Do not rely on recovering the old one. Deletion policy.
What if the Delete your account option is missing?
Use the official email alternative above and keep the request and response.
Can MealPot delete my account or save its private history?
No. Submit deletion directly to Mealime. The website recipe backup tool does not sign in to Mealime or copy private account history.
